Withdraw
Overview
Withdraw is how you move a wrapped asset out of UNIT to an address on its own blockchain. Withdraw BTCU and it leaves as BTC; withdraw ETHU and it leaves as ETH.
Withdrawals go to verified addresses only. You add and verify an address once, in Digital Assets, and then choose it from a list here — you do not paste an address into the withdrawal itself. That is deliberate: it removes the single most common way of losing funds.
Six assets can be withdrawn: BTCU, ETHU, BNBU, SOLU, USDTU and USDCU.
Confirming a withdrawal creates a request. It is not an immediate transfer out of UNIT.
UNIT does not hold or send Bitcoin, Ethereum or any other native asset itself. Your request joins the withdrawal queue, where it becomes available to authorised Settlement Providers — independent parties who supply the native asset on the destination blockchain. One of them decides whether to accept your request. UNIT then verifies that payment before completing your withdrawal.
You can follow a request from the withdrawal history beneath the form on this screen, and on its own withdrawal record, until it shows Completed.
An illustration of this screen will be added in a later revision of the guide. The explanation below describes the screen as it is used.
What You Can See
- Progress bar
- Four stages: Details, Review, Processing and Completed. Processing covers the whole of settlement, so it is where a withdrawal spends most of its time.
- Asset
- The wrapped asset you are withdrawing, with your available balance. Each asset has its own minimum withdrawal amount.
- Destination address
- A list of your verified addresses. Only addresses on the network that matches the asset are offered — choose BTCU and you will see your Bitcoin addresses, not your Ethereum ones.
- Amount
- How much to withdraw, in the asset's own units or in USD.
- Fee breakdown
- Shown at the review stage: a total of 1%, made up of a 0.5% processing fee and a 0.5% network-workers fee.
- Review
- The confirmation stage, showing the amount, the fee and the destination together before you sign.
- Withdrawal history
- Beneath the form, a list of your withdrawals with the status of each. Select a row to open that withdrawal's own record. This is where you come back to check on a request.
Before You Begin
- A verified external address for the right network, added in Digital Assets. Add it before you start — the withdrawal cannot accept a typed address.
- Enough available balance in the wrapped asset, above that asset's minimum. USDTU has a minimum of 10; BTCU a minimum of 0.0005.
- The amount, remembering the 1% fee.
- Confirmation that the destination accepts the asset. If you are sending to an exchange, check it accepts deposits of that asset on that network.
How to Use This Screen
- Add and verify your destination address first, in Digital Assets, if you have not already.
- Select Withdraw from the Wallet.
- Select the Asset and choose the wrapped asset you want to withdraw. Your available balance appears beside it.
- Select the destination address from your verified addresses. Only addresses on the matching network are listed.
- Enter the Amount. Check it is above the minimum for that asset and within your available balance.
- Select Review.
- Confirm the asset, the amount, the fee and the destination address on the review stage. Check the address character by character against where you intend the funds to go.
- Confirm the withdrawal. This creates your withdrawal request and the screen moves to Processing.
- Leave the screen whenever you want to. The request carries on without you, and you can reopen it at any time from the withdrawal history beneath the form.
- Check the status when you want an update. The withdrawal reaches Completed once a Settlement Provider has sent the native asset and UNIT has verified it — not when you confirmed it.
What Happens Next
Confirming creates a withdrawal request with its own reference, and its own withdrawal record. The request joins the withdrawal queue, where it waits for a Settlement Provider to accept it.
From there the withdrawal works through the stages set out below. You can follow it on the withdrawal record or in the withdrawal history beneath the form, and it is recorded in History. Your available balance on the Wallet Overview reflects the withdrawal from the moment you confirm it, because the amount is committed to the request at that point.
How a Withdrawal Is Processed
UNIT does not run a bridge wallet and does not send native assets itself. It coordinates a settlement instead: your wrapped asset is committed, an authorised Settlement Provider supplies the native asset on the destination blockchain, and UNIT independently verifies that payment before finalising the withdrawal.
That is why a withdrawal is a request rather than an instant transfer, and why the time it takes depends both on how quickly a Settlement Provider takes it on and on how quickly the destination blockchain confirms the payment.
The stages a withdrawal passes through
| Status | What it means | Can you cancel? |
|---|---|---|
| Submitted | Your withdrawal request has been accepted and your wrapped asset has been committed for settlement. | Yes |
| Finding Settlement Provider | Your request is available for settlement. A Settlement Provider can accept it. The status wording is the application’s own. | Yes |
| Settlement in Progress | A Settlement Provider has accepted your withdrawal and is sending the native asset on the destination blockchain. | No |
| Confirming on Bitcoin, or whichever blockchain you are withdrawing to | The transfer has been detected. UNIT is verifying it on that blockchain. | No |
| Completed | Your withdrawal is complete. The native asset has been sent to your verified address and the payment has been confirmed. | — |
| Refunded | Your wrapped asset has been returned to your wallet. The reason is shown separately. | — |
Cancelling, and being refunded
You can cancel while your withdrawal is Submitted or Finding Settlement Provider. Once a Settlement Provider has accepted it, cancelling is no longer possible, because the provider may already have sent the native asset.
If settlement does not complete after that point, your wrapped asset is returned to your wallet automatically and the withdrawal shows Refunded. A refund is a single outcome with several possible reasons — cancelled by you, settlement not completed, verification did not complete, or settlement timed out — and the reason is shown separately from the status.
Tips
- Verify the address before you need it. Adding an address mid-withdrawal means starting again.
- Check the network at the destination, not just the address. An address that looks right for the wrong network is the classic mistake.
- Allow for the 1% fee when deciding the amount, especially if you are aiming to withdraw a specific figure.
- For a first withdrawal to a new address, send a small amount first.
- You do not need to stay on the screen. Once you have confirmed, the request continues on its own. Come back to the withdrawal history when you want to check.
- If you want the option of cancelling, take it early. Cancellation closes as soon as a Settlement Provider accepts the request.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Why can I not just paste an address?
- Withdrawals go only to addresses you have already added and verified. It is a deliberate safeguard: a mistyped address on most chains cannot be undone.
- Where do I add a verified address?
- In Digital Assets. Withdraw reads that list; it never writes to it.
- Which assets can I withdraw?
- BTCU, ETHU, BNBU, SOLU, USDTU and USDCU.
- Why is UNITCOIN not in the list?
- UNITCOIN is native to UNIT and has no external chain to withdraw to. To move it, use Send.
- What does it cost?
- 1% in total — half a processing fee, half a fee to the network workers who carry it out. The breakdown is shown at the review stage before you confirm.
- Is there a minimum?
- Yes, and it differs per asset. USDTU is 10; BTCU is 0.0005.
- Why is my withdrawal not completed immediately?
- Because confirming creates a request rather than sending the funds. UNIT does not send Bitcoin, Ethereum or any other native asset itself. Your request becomes available to authorised Settlement Providers. One of them accepts it and sends the native asset on the destination blockchain, and UNIT verifies that payment before marking the withdrawal Completed.
- What is a Settlement Provider?
- An authorised party who supplies the native asset for withdrawals. They send the BTC, ETH or other asset to your verified address. UNIT verifies the payment independently before completing the withdrawal, so the funds you receive are checked rather than taken on trust.
- How long does a withdrawal take?
- It depends on two things: how quickly a Settlement Provider takes your request on, and how long the destination blockchain takes to confirm the payment. The status on the withdrawal tells you which of the two you are waiting for.
- Can I cancel a withdrawal?
- Yes, while it shows Submitted or Finding Settlement Provider. After a Settlement Provider accepts it, you cannot — they may already have sent the native asset. If settlement does not complete after that, your wrapped asset is returned to you automatically.
- What happens if the withdrawal cannot be completed?
- Your wrapped asset is returned to your wallet and the withdrawal shows Refunded, with the reason shown separately. You are not left without either the native asset or the wrapped one.
Troubleshooting
- No addresses appear in the destination list
- Either you have no verified address for that network, or your addresses are for a different network than the asset you chose. Add one in Digital Assets, or choose an asset that matches an address you already have.
- The amount is rejected
- Check it against the minimum for that asset and against your available balance. Remember that staked value is not available.
- I cannot enter the amount in USD
- A USD amount needs a current price for the asset. Enter the amount in the asset's own units instead.
- The withdrawal is still processing
- That is the normal course of a withdrawal, not a fault. Open the withdrawal record and read the status: it tells you whether the request is still waiting for a Settlement Provider, whether the native asset is being sent, or whether the destination blockchain is confirming it.
- My balance went down but the withdrawal has not completed
- That is expected. The amount is committed to the request when you confirm it, not when the withdrawal completes. If the withdrawal is later refunded, the amount returns to your wallet.
- I cannot cancel my withdrawal
- Cancellation is available only while the withdrawal shows Submitted or Finding Settlement Provider. Once a Settlement Provider has accepted it, the option closes, because the native asset may already be on its way.
